The public broadcaster has officially launched a casting call, with production set to begin later this year. An airdate has not yet been announced, but the series is expected to air in 2027. The Norwegian version will be produced by Strix (Fremantle).
Originally created by Woestijnvis, Hotel Romantiek first launched in Belgium in 2016 and has since become a long-running success, currently airing its sixth season on VRT1. The series is a dating show for senior adults, bringing together a group of 60+ singles on a romantic getaway in search of companionship — or perhaps even love — offering a warm, authentic and entertaining take on dating later in life.
Since its launch, Hotel Romantiek has been licensed in six territories, including Germany (Sat.1), the Netherlands (NPO) and Spain (RTVE). The format is currently a major ratings hit in Sweden on SVT, where a fourth season is set to launch later this year, as well as in Denmark, with season two scheduled to transmit later this year on DR.
Simone de Pruyssenaere de la Woestyne said: “I’m so pleased to see this dating format travel to Norway, following its recent success in Sweden and Denmark. To me, Hotel Romantiek is the ultimate feel-good format, showing that it’s never too late to fall in love. It’s truly inspiring, and I’m confident the Norwegian audience will love it as much as we do. We’re very happy to partner with Strix on this format and can’t wait to see the result next year.”
